Decision On Class 10, 12 Board Exams As Per BSE, CHSE Reports: Odisha Minister

Amid the growing demand by students for cancellation or conduct of examinations in online mode, the School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday said that the Odisha government will take appropriate decision on the conduct of class 10, 12 board examinations soon.

According to Dash, the department is awaiting reports from the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). Both the Boards are now holding consultations with all the stakeholders and a decision on class 10, 12 board exams will be taken based on their reports, said Dash.

“Both BSE and CHSE will submit a detailed report on the outcome and suggestions that will emerge from their discussion with concerned stakeholders. Accordingly, the department will review and take appropriate decision on holding the State board examinations,” said Dash.

Earlier, the Odisha government had stated that its main concern was to resume teaching, increase attendance and address the learning gaps. It also claimed that the government is aware of the difficult times Covid has accentuated for the education sector in the State.

Following protests and demands by students, the government had asked BSE and CHSE, which conducts the class 10 and 12 exams respectively, to hold extensive discussion with the stakeholders- students, teachers, parents, educationists and experts- before coming out with a suitable proposal on the conduct of the examination/ assessment.
